Between the Atlantic Ocean, the Loire and Lake Grand-Lieu, a unique terroir shaped by four generations of winemakers.

Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu as our DNA

The sole grape variety of Muscadet, Melon B. accounts for nearly half of our production and forms the heart of Haut Bourg’s identity. Whether from plots farmed organically or conventionally, we tend each vine with the same exacting standards: to reveal what the grape and the terroir have that is most singular.

The terroir

The westernmost vineyard in the Loire Valley.

In Bouaye, south of Nantes, Haut Bourg enjoys a singular position, closest to the Atlantic Ocean. Between the Loire, Lake Grand-Lieu and the ocean, our vineyard sits at the heart of a true hydrological triangle that profoundly shapes its identity.

This maritime and riverside proximity creates a mild climate and brings freshness and finesse to the wines. Before we even intervene, the terroir already imprints its signature. Our role is to listen to it, preserve it and reveal it in every cuvée.

“We did not choose this terroir. It was here before us. Our only merit is not to have spoiled it.”

Muscadet is our backbone. Around it, we grow Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Grolleau Gris, three emblematic grape varieties of the Nantes region that make up our IGP Val de Loire range. Wines that offer another expression of our terroir, more fruity and spontaneous, while retaining the freshness, minerality and balance that define the wines of Haut Bourg.

Red and rosé grape varieties further enrich our palette of expressions. Grolleau, Gamay, Merlot and Cabernet each find their place here and reveal a different facet of our terroir.
